Food Network’s Alton Brown apologizes for joking about the Holocaust reference on Twitter

Food Network Enjoy your meal and Iron Chef America host Alton Brown today apologized for a series of humorous Twitter references to concentration camps and the Holocaust. “data-reactid =” 28 “> Alton Brown, moderator of Food Network Good Eats and Iron Chef America, today apologized for a series of joking Twitter references to concentration camps and the Holocaust.

The 58-year-old Brown initially defended his statements and then admitted that they were “tasteless”.

In his tweetstorm that sparked a riot, Brown asked, “If they take us to the camps, do you think they’ll let us choose the state? I’m going to ask about Kansas because the sky is so beautiful there … over the wheat, ”he wrote.

He later added, “Do you think the camp uniforms will be striped like in Auschwitz or that plaid will be fashionable?” He then said he had “no gold fillings” when a Twitter respondent said the uniform would depend on his personal wealth.

When Brown later responded via Twitter to the outrage caused by his comments, Brown claimed he was “deeply scared” for the country and insisted that the Holocaust notice was not intended for “humorous impact”.

“I apologize for the careless reference I made to the Holocaust in my tweet last night,” Brown wrote. “It wasn’t a hint that I made for a humorous effect, but rather to reflect how afraid I am of our country. It was very poor judgment and taste. “
