Bitcoin (BTC) Lightning payment app Wallet of Satoshi (WoS) has disappeared from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store in the US after completing over 1 million transactions in November.
On November 24, several users and crypto community participants on X (Twitter) shared their attempts to search for the WoS app, which returned no results or redirected users to competing wallet apps.

However, at the time of writing, the WoS app was still available for download on the Australian Apple App Store as well as the Australian and Singaporean Google Play Store versions.

According to industry writer and podcaster Kevin Rooke, Wallet of Satoshi is a popular Lightning payment platform that will process over 1.1 million Lightning payments in November.

Rooke added that it would be the “biggest month of Lightning payments ever” for the company.
Apple and Wallet of Satoshi did not immediately respond to a request for further details.

Apple imposes a hefty 30% tax on in-app payments, which it tightly controls and which poses a barrier to crypto platforms seeking a presence in the App Store.
On November 17, a group of disgruntled PayPal Venmo and Block Cash app users filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, alleging that the company entered into anti-competitive agreements with PayPal and Block to restrict the use of crypto technology and payments on iOS.
Apple has removed crypto apps in the past, with the company delisting the Nostr-based Damus app in June due to a Bitcoin tipping feature. Additionally, the MetaMask wallet app was briefly removed from the App Store in October.
