Recently asset manager for Grayscale met with representatives from the Trading Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Several potential listing difficulties for Grayscale Bitcoin Trust shares were discussed during the meeting.
Accordingly, the asset manager is still working on obtaining permission for a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).
The most recent meeting came after a D.C. district court issued a lawsuit official mandate last month, which reinforced the decision made in August. The court ordered the SEC to conduct a thorough review of Grayscale’s application.
As a result, Grayscale has taken further action and filed a new application with the SEC. Their goal is to convert the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust into a spot Bitcoin ETF, which is reflected in their new registration statement.
