Twitter user and crypto enthusiast @pete_rizzo_ published a post saying that one of the Bitcoin blocks contains a reference to the Bible encoded within it. This news excited cryptocurrency fans in the comments under his tweet.
The tweet said that in 666,666. A biblical message is embedded in the Bitcoin block. The number 666 refers to the biblical “number of the beast”, hence most likely the choice of block number.
The screenshot posted with the tweet shows a quote from Romans 12:21, which says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Jamie Dimon criticizes Bitcoin in Davos
Jamie Dimon, CEO of banking giant JP Morgan, took aim at Bitcoin during the World Economic Forum in Davos in January this year. During his conversation with the CNBC Squawk Box hosts, Dimon explained that he prefers to call Bitcoin a “pet rock” and insists that unlike some other chains, the Bitcoin blockchain “does nothing.”
He reiterated his previous accusations that Bitcoin's main use cases had to do with illegal activities, money laundering, etc. Last year, Dimon supported Senator Elizabeth Warren's proposed anti-Bitcoin bill and made similar accusations against Bitcoin and its users.
Dimon does not believe in Bitcoin's greatest virtue: scarcity. He stated that he doesn't know anyone who can confirm with certainty that the issuance of BTC is actually only limited to 21 million.
The Bitcoin community reacted on Twitter and sent criticism towards Dimon. Edward Snowden stated that he noticed a drastic change in Dimon's attitude towards Bitcoin; After the spot Bitcoin ETF was approved, the JP Morgan CEO became even more toxic towards BTC.
Michael Saylor, Bitcoin evangelist and founder of MicroStrategy, posted a tongue-in-cheek tweet responding to Dimon and his “Pet Rock” definition of Bitcoin. Samson Mow tweeted: If Dimon is worried that BTC could disrupt the current banking system, then banks can simply start accepting Bitcoin and offer Bitcoin-based services to their customers. Some large banks are already starting to do this.
Since last Thursday, Bitcoin has been moving in a range between $42,400 and $43,420 and is aiming to break this resistance level. Overall, Bitcoin has lost 13.32% since the approval of the Bitcoin ETF since January 11th.
