A brief meeting with Vector Sport Team Principal Gary Holland in the Sebring paddock clarified a number of aspects of the team’s intended program for 2023.
Oreca’s newly revamped LMP2 program will continue for the full season, whether or not the team’s Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 hypercar is allowed from race to race later this year. The Oreca with all three drivers (Gabby Aubry, Matthias Kaiser and Ryan Cullen) tested at both Paul Ricard and Portimao before the car was shipped to Sebring.
The Isotta Fraschini, meanwhile, will be shaken off at the end of this month, with Holland adding that the car has already undergone very extensive dyne testing.
If everything goes as expected at the shakedown, it goes straight into a full test program.
As previously indicated, the intent thereafter is to request race after race, beginning with Monza, the new hypercar would then compete alongside the team’s ongoing LMP2 effort.
