The Polish international junior rider Ann van den Broeck has announced the retirement of her pony Langtoftegard Leandro from the sport.
Leandro is a 13-year-old purebred Danish Connemara by Sternbergs Larry Junior out of Barholts Rosaleen (by Oxenholm Markbook x Rosenaharley Lavelle x Padraig of Rosenaharley). He is bred by Annette Villebaek in Fjenneslev, Denmark.

The gray gelding was mated to the Polish stallion Ann van den Broeck at an early age.
The family acquired Leandro in 2014 when he was just four years old for their eight-year-old daughter Ann.
“I made progress with him as a baby,” Ann recalls. “I rode on the auxiliary reins in the L class. I took part in the 2017 Polish Championships, held in Strzegom. I have won. He was and is every child’s dream.”
Polish team pony
The couple made their international show debut at CDI Zakrzow (POL) in April 2019 and competed in Mariakalnok and Hagen this year to secure their first Polish team nomination for the 2019 European Pony Championships in Strzegom (POL), where they finished 30th th place individual test with 68.027%.
Ann and LeandroThey rode two more Pony European Championships: 2020 in Pilisjaszfalu (HUN), where they placed 18th in the Kur to Music final, and 2021 back in Strzegom (POL), where they placed 26th in the individual test with 70.459% .
The Pony European Championships 2021 was Leandro’s last international show. In 2022, Van den Broeck switched to junior class with the now 7-year-old Hanoverian Bon Bailador (by Bon Coeur x Shalimaro).

Van den Broeck announced Leandro’s resignation on her Instagram page.
“This pony has given me so many first places and so many trophies,” she said. “18th in the world rankings. Amazing what I have achieved with these bangs. Now Leandro will have the best life on the Płochocin meadows.”
