Valerien Ismael expects more from his players in the final months of the season
Watford head coach Valerien Ismael believes he still has the backing of the club's board despite just one win in his last seven Championship games.
The Hornets sit 11th in the table ahead of Saturday's visit to Millwall and are 11 points behind the play-off places.
Ismael had his usual meeting with high-ranking club officials this week.
“We are all on board, we still believe in the way we know it, but it was clear that everyone was not happy with the performances,” he said.
“It’s a normal feeling to talk about it because that’s not what we want to see.”
“We talked about the situation and what the solution is, what the next step is.”
Watford have had three head coaches in each of the previous two seasons.
Ismael's team have failed to finish higher than seventh since picking up four points from their first two games.
Ismael made two substitutions after just 27 minutes and although they later took the lead through Emmanuel Dennis, the Terriers hit back to take the three points.
“When a team performs like this it is always difficult for any manager, but now the focus is on the next game,” Ismael added.
“We're changing a lot of things, we're reshaping just to find the right way to make sure we can compete and most importantly do a lot better than we did last week and we know we can do better.”
“I know my players and what they are capable of. We’ll have to see that in the twelve games until the end of the season.”
