The Dragons showed plenty of character and promise but ultimately suffered a heavy loss to the Bulls in the first game of their South African double-header.
Tryouts from Arno Botha, Lionel Mapoe, Kurt-Lee Arendse and Johan Grobbelaar gave the Bulls a solid lead before the Dragons responded with a Rio Dyer try.
Jarrod Rosser and Sam Davies crossed between Arendse’s second try.
Marcell Coetzee, Lionel Mapoe and Zak Burger secured bonus points for the Bulls.
Jake White’s Bulls proved too strong for the Dragons as they secured a second straight win after beating a Welsh side 57-12 win against Scarlets the past weekend.
Bulls ran in eight tries against Dragons at Loftus Versfeld, securing the South African sides their sixth home win over the Welsh regions this season.
The South African side are seventh in the United Rugby Championship while the Dragons are 15th after a ninth loss of the season.
Dean Ryan’s side next meet the Sharks at Durban’s Kings Park on Friday.
