Portland State Athletics has 54 student-athletes from its fall sports programs who have earned Academic All-Big Sky Conference honors. The league released the fall sports list today, including men's and women's cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.
Twenty-one members of the football team received honors, while 11 on the soccer team, nine on the volleyball team and 13 on the cross country teams earned Academic All-Big Sky honors. Thirty-nine of the student-athletes had a GPA of 3.50 or higher and four had a perfect GPA of 4.0.
Women's cross country had the highest team GPA among fall sports at 3.69. Portland State's overall student-athlete average in 15 sports was 3.30.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must meet and/or exceed the following minimum requirements: 1) participate in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 (on a scale of 4.0) at the end of the most recently completed semester; 3) Have completed at least one academic semester at their current Big Sky institution. Student-athletes in cross country must have competed in at least half of the team events or competed in the conference championship.
