On Sunday she came two steps closer to qualifying for the second round after finishing second in her first round heat behind Australian Tyler Wright, who led the group with 10.84 points, while the Brit's 6.84 was enough. to prevail against the Uruguayan Marcela Machado and the Latvian Katrina Kruze.

It was a much more nervy result in the second round for Brown, who posted the worst combined score of the heat until her final run, climbing from fourth to second place with a total score of 8.07, finishing behind France's Johanne Defay, who achieved a total score of 12.50 in the heat.
Had Brown failed to secure second place there would have been a chance of qualifying for the final via the repechage heats, but she will be happier having booked a place in the eighth heat of the third round where she will be on Spain's Lucia Machado, South, meets Africa's Sarah Baum and China's Siqi Yang.
Brown's best heat score of 8.07 was the 47th best among women on the second day of the World Surfing Games, with USA's Carissa Moore, who won shortboard gold in the sport's debut in Tokyo, leading the field with a 16.00 led.
This event is the last chance for surfers to qualify for this summer's Summer Olympics, which will be hosted by France but the surfing program will take place in Tahiti, French Polynesia. The final is scheduled for July 30th.
Should Brown, the 2023 world champion in the skateboard park event, also secure one of the eight remaining Olympic qualifying spots for female surfers in Puerto Rico, she could compete in a surfing final in Tahiti on July 30 before traveling nearly 10,000 miles to Paris travels. where their skateboard competition would be held on August 6th.
