The regional sports network’s game is changing and the Portland Trail Blazers could be affected.

According to Sports Business Journal reporter John Ourand, there may not be many more Portland Trail Blazers games being broadcast on ROOT Sports.
The company, which operates three AT&T SportsNet-branded channels in Denver, Houston and Pittsburgh and holds a minority stake in the Root Sports channel in Seattle, has told teams they have until March 31 to reach an agreement to take back their rights to achieve. Eventually, if the RSNs are unable to reach agreements with the teams, the channels plan to proceed with a Chapter 7 liquidation petition.
The Blazers join the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets as the teams are directly impacted by this deal.
The Blazers are ending their second season with ROOT Sports after 14 years with NBC Sports. The deal with ROOT runs until the 2024/25 season, but with the company planning to file for bankruptcy, the deal doesn’t spell the end of the deal.
There’s no telling what the future might hold for Blazers broadcasting, but all we know is that it won’t be the same for much longer.
