By doing without the “R” of its SVR predecessor, the SV also appears more discreet. Visual cues to the surprisingly subtle SV include what Range Rover describes as an “airflow-enhanced front end” offset by reprofiled and lower body sides. Rear functional exhaust tips. No exhaust forgery is operated here. The optional carbon fiber wheels also add to the aesthetics. At 23 inches, they are the largest carbon fiber wheels to be installed on a production car and they save a total of 35.6 kg compared to the standard cast alloy alternatives. More carbon fiber is available for the hood (with the center section exposed) and minor trim areas both inside and outside the vehicle.
Not that weight reduction is ever a primary consideration on a Range Rover. With the standard wheels and brakes it tips the scales at 2560 kg. Inside, everything reigns as usual with soft materials and ample equipment packed in packaging with a minimalistic appearance. New for the Sport SV are vibroacoustic seats. They vibrate to the beat of the sound, allowing the listener to feel what they are hearing. Each front seat has two speakers for a total of 29 speakers in the vehicle. There are six “wellness tracks” that purportedly increase mental and physiological well-being by influencing occupants’ heart rates, but it works with whatever is playing.
Pricing for the SV is yet to be confirmed, but we expect the fully featured First Edition to be well over £150,000, putting the Sport SV squarely within the competition when compared to higher-end SUVs. Attendees at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard had the opportunity to see and hear the Sport SV complete the 1.16 mile hill climb.
