The city that never sleeps is home to insatiable sports fanatics who never sleep. That’s why The Post dutifully provides a list of 30 things you might not want to miss this summer:
1st NHL Draft (June 28-29)
Rangers will pick 23rd place. No first-round picks for the Devils or Islanders. The Blackhawks own the No. 1 pick and are expected to use it against 17-year-old center Connor Bedard.
2. NHL Free Agency (begins July 1)
Patrick Kane (Rangers) will make his first appearance in his career. Teammate Vladimir Tarasenko will also dip his skates into Free Agent waters. Financially strapped GM Chris Drury also has to deal with the potential losses of Tyler Motte, Niko Mikkola and Jaroslav Halak.
3. Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest (July 4th)
All eyes and stomachs are on Joey Chestnut. The 15-time king of the mustard yellow belt devoured 63 hot dogs and buns last year. Miki Sudo was the female Chompion. An estimated 35,000 hungry fans are expected at Coney Island.

4. NBA Summer League (July 7-17)
Spurs, No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama phenom, wants to play. From Paris to New York, who wouldn’t want to be there? Of course, the Knicks and Nets will be there.
5. New York Liberty vs. Seattle Storm (July 8)
Breanna Stewart joins her former team, with whom she has spent the past six seasons, at the Barclays Center. Sabrina Ionescu is always worth the price of admission.
6th MLB All-Star Game Home Run Derby (July 10)
Juan Soto dethroned Pete Alonso last year.
7th MLB All-Star Game (July 11)
The captain, Derek Jeter, will be at the Fox Sports booth. He’s been in 14 of them, so he knows everything you need to know. Alonso and maybe Francisco Lindor will represent the Mets. The Yankees’ Gerrit Cole and maybe Anthony Rizzo will join Aaron Judge when he returns.
8. Saquon Deadline (July 17)
The deadline for Saquon Barkley and the Giants to reach an agreement. Or that Barkley may or may not sign the $10.1 million franchise tender.
9. Jets Training Camp (starts late July)
The Aaron Rodgers Jets – still hard to imagine right? – will open the pre-season with inflated expectations and Namath-like hype. Standing room only in Florham Park, New Jersey for any practice open to the public – the long-suffering public who won’t be there for Zach Wilson. All eyes on #8.
10th Women’s World Cup (July 21 – August 20)
USA vs. Vietnam on Fox, in the opening round of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Forwards Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe and defenseman Kelley O’Hara have been named to their fourth cup roster as the USWNT seeks an historic three-point win.

11. Subway Series Part 2 (July 25-26)
The fight moves to Yankee Stadium, where things will get even hotter than Part 1. Steve Cohen will be counting on Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander to get younger as the season progresses.
13th Giants Training Camp (starts late July)
The Brian Daboll Giants will open training camp as a playoff team for the first time in six summers. Will Saquon Barkley be there? Once there, will he be happy with a new contract there, or unhappy with the franchise tag?
13. Yankees vs. Rays (July 31 – August 2)
The Yankees take on the Rays (currently tied for first place in the AL East) at the stadium. These teams don’t like each other. Can the Yankees possibly catch them?

14th Hall of Fame Game (3rd August)
When the Jets take on the Browns in Canton, Ohio, you can expect to see Rodgers on the sidelines helping Wilson as a coach.
15. Yankees vs. Astros (3-6 August)
The nemesis and deadlocks of the World Series come to town to maintain their psychological advantage over the Yankees. Jose Altuve might want to wear earplugs.

16. Induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (5 August)
Jets Darrelle Revis and Joe Klecko will be anchored in Canton, Ohio and join franchise greats Joe Namath, Weeb Ewbank, Don Maynard and Curtis Martin. Sauce Gardner will attempt to emulate Revis Island this season, and Quinnen Williams is set to play the role of Klecko in every New York Sack Exchange II.
17. New York Liberty vs. Las Vegas Aces (6 August)
The reigning WNBA champions descend on the Barclays Center to try and send a message to the league’s super team. Two-time Vegas MVP and reigning Defensive Player of the Year A’ja Wilson is a problem. So does guard Jackie Young. Giants TE Darren Waller is expected to be there to cheer on new bride and Aces guard Kelsey Plum.

18. Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Hudson Valley Renegades (15-20 August)
Mets vs. Yankees right on the Coney Island Boardwalk. Six games in six days. For now, it looks like hurricanes will have to put up with the role of spoilers. $5.25 for a Nathan’s Footlong? Write it in the books!
19. Yankees vs. Red Sox (Aug. 18-20)
It’s still Boston vs. New York.
20. Giants vs. Panthers (18 August)
Big Blue’s home preseason opener. Check out conscripts Deonte Banks, John Michael Schmitz and Jalin Hyatt.

21. Jets vs. Buccaneers (19 August)
Expected first look at Rodgers with his number 8 at MetLife Stadium. Look at draftees Will McDonald and Joe Tippmann.
22. Mets vs. Angels (25-27 August)
Shohei Ohtani, anyone? Mike Trout, anyone?
23. Jets vs. Giants (Aug. 26)
Many of the fighters hoping to get the bragging rights at the Oct. 29 regular-season meeting are unlikely to play more than one half — and you’d better believe that includes Rodgers.

24. The Travers Stakes (26 August)
The Midsummer Classic for 3-year-olds in Saratoga is the biggest race of the summer. There’s a good chance that the winners of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont will clash in a race that could go a long way toward determining the 2023 Three-Year-Old Champion. If you see Rick Pitino there, ask him to pick some winners for you. He’s on the move. And look – there’s Bill Parcells!
25. Messi visits (26 August)
Legendary Lionel Messi and Inter Miami travel to Harrison, New Jersey to take on the Red Bulls.
26th US Open (28 August – 10 September)
As always, celebrities from sports, entertainment and politics will be at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center. Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest-ever world No. 1 player at 19 by beating Casper Ruud in the men’s singles final last year. Iga Swiatek is the defending champion in women’s singles. No sentimental goodbye to Serena Williams this time.

27th Yankees Classic Car Day (September 9th)
Unusually late in the year but better late than never for the storied 75th edition, with a Brewers clash to boot.
28. Giants vs. Cowboys (September 10)
Jerry Jones takes Dak Prescott to MetLife Stadium for a grand opening duel against $40M man Daniel Jones.
29. Jets vs. Bills (September 11)
Rodgers makes his Jets regular-season debut as all of Green Bay and Football America watch as Josh Allen and the defending AFC East champions watch.
30. The Hudson River Derby (September 16)
NYCFC visits the Red Bulls. These fan bases don’t like each other. What better way to end our New York summer of sports?
