Chicago Fire defeated Sporting Kansas City 1-0 away

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Fabian Herbers scored in the second minute of the second half and Chris Brady put the Chicago Fire ahead in a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.

Herbers’ winner was his third goal of the season, scored in the 47th minute without an assist. Brady ended the game with four saves, giving the Fire a 5-6-8 concede.

The Fire ended a six-game losing streak away from Sporting KC (5-10-6). The last time the Fire clinched a road point in the series was a 1-1 draw in July 2014. Sporting KC had won five of the six games in that series by shutouts, including three in a row.

Kendall McIntosh saved four shots for Sporting KC.

Sporting KC is 3-2-2 in their last seven games. The club took just three points in total from their first ten games this season.

The Fire have enjoyed consecutive away wins against the Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps and Sporting KC, earning their first three consecutive away wins against Western Conference opponents in club history. And that despite the fact that the club spent its first two seasons in the conference.

Alan Pulido failed to become the third Sporting KC player to score in five straight games.
