Surrey, BC – During its regular council meeting last week, Surrey City Council approved a $14.5 million contract to Graham Construction and Engineering for the exterior and interior of the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex. To date, the council has awarded four additional contracts, valued at $42.5 million, to Graham Construction and Engineering for the construction of earlier structures; the prefabricated metal building structure of the ice complex; the supply and installation of pile foundations, civil works, formwork, reinforcing steel and concrete supplies; and the electrical, mechanical, ice plant cooling and elevator.
“It is exciting to see that another contract has been approved for the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke. “The first two of three ice sheets are expected to open in September 2024, with the third scheduled for completion in summer 2027. This long overdue destination sports complex will provide much needed additional ice in Cloverdale and will be put to good use by so many families and athletes in our community.”
Funding for this contract is available under the approved Five Year Financial Plan (2023-2027) – Capital Program – for 2023.
The Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex will be located at 6336 177B Street.
