CHICAGO (`) — Marko Mitrović was hired Wednesday to coach the U.S. under-23 men’s soccer team at next year’s Paris Games, the Americans’ first Olympics since 2008.
Mitrović, 45, was an assistant at the Chicago Fire from 2016-19 and Reading from 2020-22 before becoming the head coach of the USA U19 national team in April 2022. He served as assistant to interim national team manager Anthony Hudson and BJ Callaghan from April to July.
After the USA U23 team failed to qualify for the last three Olympic Games, the regional governing body of North, Central America and the Caribbean announced that the CONCACAF U20 Championship in June and July 2022 will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 Olympic Games would serve. The USA won the tournament and qualified for both the Olympic Games and the U20 World Cup, where the Americans lost 2-0 to Uruguay in the quarterfinals.
Olympic men’s soccer is restricted to players under the age of 23, with each nation allowing three wildcard players over the age limit.
Michael Nsien replaced Mitrović as US U19 coach after coaching the U16 team since November last year.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (`) – Nick Bosa’s lengthy contract extension ended four days before the start of the season for the San Francisco 49ers when he agreed to a contract extension that would make him the richest defensive player of all time in the NFL.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that both sides had agreed to the contract and that Bosa was on his way to the team’s facility. Now Shanahan is glad he can’t think about what it would be like for the Niners to start their season without their best defensive player.
ESPN first reported on the renewal, stating that it was valued at $170 million over five seasons, with $122.5 million guaranteed.
