$2 from every haircut at Sport Clips this week goes to A Bradford Christmas in support of Bradford charity Hockey for Grace.
From now through December 3rd, $2 from every haircut at Barbershop Sport Clips in Bradford will be donated to A Bradford Christmas.
A Bradford Christmas regularly hosts fundraisers for local charities and is run by Bradford sisters Sarah and Emily Dahlgren. This holiday season, the girls have thrown their support for the Bradford charity Hockey for Grace, teaming up with local businesses to raise money for the cause.
Chris and Amy Manning formed Hockey for Grace in memory of their daughter Grace, who died in 2016 at Toronto’s Emily’s House Children’s Hospice at just eight days old. After Grace’s death, Chris started the annual Hockey for Grace memorial game, which they used to help raise money for Emily’s house.
Due to the pandemic, their annual game has gone on a two-year hiatus, which has hampered fundraising, prompting Sarah and Emily to step in and offer their help.
When Anil Bissa, owner of Sport Clips Bradford, heard about the initiative, he wanted to get involved. This week, not only will $2 from every haircut be donated to A Bradford Christmas, but Bissa has agreed to match the amount raised.
“We always want to be part of the community and we always want to be part of excellent charities like this one,” he said.
Bissa said the cause strikes him and his wife, both of whose children were born prematurely and have had to stay in hospital for extended periods.
“We’ve been through that and we know that parents struggle, especially when there’s so much uncertainty … so that was a no-brainer for us,” he said.
Bissa took over the Bradford Sport Clips site seven months ago and also runs the Orillia franchise.
“We have a great community and this is a phenomenal city,” said Bissa.
This is the final week for the girl’s silent auction, with multiple gift cards and prizes up for grabs from various companies.
They are also giving away tickets to a Toronto Maple Leafs box suite game and have Tooni glasses in stores across the city, all of which are used towards the cause.
Sport Clips Bradford is located at 494 Holland St. West in the Holland Square Plaza.
