Spanish golfer Larrazabal wins the Korean championship

Pablo Larrazabal fought his way to the top of a crowded leaderboard to capture his eighth DP World Tour title at the Korea Championship.

The Spaniard secured a two-shot win over Denmark’s Marcus Helligkilde after carding six birdies and a lone bogey in a final 67 to go 12-under par.

Larrazabal went into the final lap a shot off the lead after missing a bogey in 17th place as he returned in the morning to complete his weather-related third lap.

He then found himself in a five-way tie at the top on nine under at the turn, followed by two front nine birbys.

Larrazabal slid off the top after hitting his first shot of the round on the 10th hole, but roared back and made four birdies over the next five holes to open a three-shot lead.

He then made his way home safely to earn his first visit to the winners’ circle since last April’s ISPS Handa Championship in Spain.

The 39-year-old said: “I love to compete, I love to fly here, to see all these young people putting miles and trying to beat them.

“And that makes me the happiest man in the world.”
