Southend United 2-1 Kidderminster Harriers

Southend brushed off their 10-point penalty and moved into positive territory after securing a home win over Kidderminster thanks to Callum Powell’s late winner.

There were few chances in the dismal first half, but the game came alive seven minutes after the break when Harry Cardwell broke the lead.

Noor Husin opened Kidderminster’s defense with a wonderful ball and Cardwell made no mistake and scored his fifth goal of the season.

Harriers appeared to have gone without a goal for the fourth straight game, but Amari Morgan-Smith equalized in the 80th minute when he converted the rebound after Barry Maguire’s powerful shot hit a post.

Nathan Ralph almost scored the winner for Southend when his long-range shot went just over the bar, but Powell struck with a cool finish in the third minute of added time.
