“Today, sport acknowledges its responsibility beyond the field. The Benfica Foundation and the MoU that we just signed are prime examples of this.

In a world faced with so many challenges and inequalities, sport must use its power and influence for the benefit of all citizens. For this reason, prioritizing sports integrity and actively promoting human rights, sustainability and other pressing concerns must be at the forefront and center of each club’s social responsibility agenda. Now more than ever, values are vital to any sports property or brand and SIGA provides the independent seal of trust to ensure sport is managed and operated with the highest integrity and accountability.

We encourage and invite all sports foundations, clubs, athletes, leagues and federations to walk the talk and join us in this mission. The need for collaboration is greater than ever.”

Benfica Foundation Executive President Carlos Móia expressed his thoughts with a sense of responsibility towards sports integrity:

“The SIGA campaign is of course integrated into all projects of the Benfica Foundation. When we talk about fair play and gender equality, we can say that we fit into SIGA’s vision. We will collaborate on sustainability, education, transparency and other issues that have been at the heart of the Foundation’s work since its inception 13 years ago. The Benfica Foundation will not only bring knowledge to Portugal, but will also play a role in the Portuguese-speaking countries.”
