Amazon Prime Video has invested $1.2 billion in UK television, films and sport

Amazon Prime Video has invested more than £1 billion ($1.2 billion) in British television, films and live sport in recent years.

These include UK Amazon Originals such as Clarkson’s Farm and co-productions in series such as The Outlaws and A Very English Scandal, both co-produced with the `.

The streamer will also bring the second season of upcoming Lord of the Rings series The Rings of Power to film in the UK this year.

Amazon has also leased Shepperton Studios on a long-term basis.

“We’ve spent a long time building a service that offers customers a variety of ways to access the TV shows and movies they love – either as part of their subscription, as an add-on channel, or to rent or buy from at one low price,” said Chris Bird, Managing Director of Prime Video UK. “We have invested more than £1billion in TV series, films and live sport since 2018. But it’s just as important that we invest in the UK’s leading global manufacturing and creative industries, with a growing number of UK Originals; through a £10m commitment to training and skills programmes; and through a long-term lease at Shepperton Studios.”
