Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Coventry City: Djeidi Gassama secures the Owls' replay with the Sky Blues

Victor Torp (left) only moved to Coventry from Norwegian club Sarpsborg on January 11th

Djeidi Gassama's late equalizer earned Sheffield Wednesday an FA Cup fourth round replay against fellow side Coventry City.

Victor Torp scored his first goal for the Sky Blues just before half-time at Hillsborough, hitting the top corner from distance.

However, the visitors couldn't hold on as Gassama found the net through a slight deflection in the 84th minute.

Coventry defeated the Owls just six days ago in the league, and the replay sees the two teams meet for the fourth time this season.

Before kick-off, Coventry players knelt to show their unity against racism – one man got arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Sky Blues midfielder Kasey Palmer when the teams met in the Championship last weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday's players lined up arm in arm around the center circle and while the majority of Hillsborough fans applauded the show of solidarity, a few boos could be heard from the crowd.

Palmer started the game dominantly and almost gave the visitors the perfect start after just two minutes, but he couldn't get his early shot on target.

After Coventry's strong start, Wednesday responded and missed a sensational goal with a boot from Ike Ugbo. The Owls striker failed to keep out Barry Bannan's teasing ball to complete a wonderful move.

The Danish midfielder Torp, who Signed for Mark Robins' side earlier this month, opened the scoring with a beautiful finish after picking up the ball from 35 yards out and firing a stunning shot that proved too good for Owls goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

Wednesday increased the pressure on Coventry in the second half in search of an equaliser, and they found it through Gassama, who managed to hit a low shot at the near post after being passed by Bannan.

There was still time for Charles to make a brilliant save to deny Jamie Allen a late winner for the Sky Blues, denying them their third win of the season against Wednesday.
