Every Canberran deserves access to quality local sports facilities.
The ACT Government’s $7.5 million upgrade of the city’s five netball facilities begins today, starting with the Solarhub ACT Netball Center and the Arawang Netball Association facility in Stirling.
In 2020, the ACT Government committed to upgrading and renewing our city’s netball courts. Today that promise becomes reality.
Planned works at the city’s five netball facilities include improvements to playing surfaces, fencing, drainage and stormwater management. Work on the South Canberra, Belconnen and Tuggeranong facilities will begin in 2024.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Yvette Berry said: “Netball is one of the largest sports in Canberra with over 12,000 participants. The five netball facilities are busy and these upgrades will make a real difference to local teams and players.”
“This work is the result of Netball ACT’s ongoing commitment and advocacy on behalf of the local netball community. I would like to thank Netball ACT for their support and partnership.”
This initiative fulfills a commitment to the Parliamentary Agreement of the Labor-Greens ACT Government’s 10th Legislative Assembly.
