Dak Prescott won’t play in Saturday night’s final preseason game, but the Cowboys quarterback will be involved.
Prescott will name the pieces against the Raiders, reports the Dallas Morning News.
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy typically has the job of assistant coach in the final preseason game, but leaves it to his quarterback instead.
Will Grier will play every snap before he leaves Dallas.
The Cowboys replaced him as third quarterback Friday with a trade for Trey Lance, the No. 3 overall pick in 2021.
Grier, who has spent two seasons with the Cowboys since they claimed him over Panthers waivers, was notified of the team’s trade for Lance before it became public. He will audition for the other 31 teams tonight before going on the waiver in the coming days.
Prescott didn’t play preseason, 2019 being the last time he snapped in exhibition season.
