The Sport Transparency Index aims to protect the sports industry by comparing stakeholders, including clubs, national federations and international governing bodies, using universal and appropriate criteria to assess, compare and benchmark against integrity-related transparency indicators.
The 30-month project, led by the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) through SIGA Europe and co-funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ programme, will use a robust set of universal transparency indicators to assess European sport.
It will:
- Define and articulate a set of common integrity indicators applicable to all European sport actors.
- Use the indicators to create a transparency index that objectively assesses the level of transparency of European sports actors in relation to the indicators provided.
- Use a universal and external evaluation process that enables objective evaluations.
- Only base assessments on information available on stakeholders’ official websites.
- Design the index to improve standards by highlighting current capacities and level of integrity transparency.
- Foster positive change through education, policy recommendations and knowledge-sharing mechanisms.
Sport stakeholders are encouraged to visit the official website www.sporttindex.eu to express their interest in participating, to get involved or simply to keep up to date with the results of this initiative.
