“Race for Peace” in Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain shows how sport can unite people

The Race for Peace, a professional cycling race, celebrates the “Peace and the Abrahamic Accords” between Middle Eastern countries that have normalized their relations with Israel.

Scheduled for October 2024, it will start in Israel and continue in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The Race for Peace is an initiative of Israeli-Canadian businessman and philanthropist Sylvan Adams.

“It will show how cycling and sport in general can be a positive force, bringing people and nations together, building bridges and creating a more peaceful world,” Adams told the Tour de France’s Jewish News Syndicate.

Adams had reportedly claimed that the race was sanctioned by the three countries and validated by the International Cycling Union.

He added that the three countries would also alternate hosting Union Cycliste Internationale season-ending galas.
