It is the fastest growing sport in the United States.
The same is true for Davie County — especially if you look at attendance at Davie Senior Services events.
It’s pickleball and more and more people are playing every day.
And then there’s the Davie County Senior Games Pickleball Tournament taking place on Thursday, March 23rd at Davie County Community Park with more than 30 players.
“There was singles, doubles and mixed doubles that day,” said Carrie Miller, Davie Senior Services events coordinator. “Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America, and it’s the same here in Davie County. The Pickleball tournament has grown exponentially over the past three years with over 30 entries this year.”
The pickleball doubles was the most competitive division.
“This category featured women versus women and men versus men competing in intense matches that were incredibly stimulating to watch,” Miller said. “At the end of the day, the singles players took the field and many of the ladies enjoyed playing singles for the first time.”
Davie County Community Park staff supported this event.
“Thank you to everyone who sat in the stands to cheer on their family members and friends,” she said. “This kept the energy going all the time while people enjoyed participating and playing together.
