image description, Wrexham's victory over Crawley Town in midweek was Phil Parkinson's 100th win as manager of the club
Wrexham will focus on winning their own game on Saturday and not worrying about promotion rivals, says Phil Parkinson.
Wrexham are second in League Two and secure a play-off place. He needs five points from the last three games to secure automatic promotion.
Manager Parkinson's side could win promotion on Saturday if they beat Forest Green Rovers and the results go their way.
“Our goal is to focus on the game and what we have to do ourselves,” he said.
“We cannot control anything from the outside and our fate ultimately lies in our own hands.”
“We’re just preparing to play as well as we can at the weekend and see if that’s good enough to get points against a Forest Green team who are obviously fighting for their lives.”
“We’re going to go out and win the game and see what happens in the end. Whatever happens elsewhere, we have to go out and get the three points.”
Should Wrexham win at home against the bottom of League Two and rivals MK Dons and Barrow fail to win, promotion would be sealed.
Wrexham's bid for promotion to League One comes 12 months after they secured the National League title and a return to the EFL.
“The difference is that it was us and Notts County competing against each other,” Parkinson said as he reflected on last season.
“[This season] There have been a lot of teams in transition, one after another falling behind a little, but there are still teams trying to get into the top three.
“So after the game there is more to think about and more results to see.”
“The boys are doing well. We are preparing a great atmosphere at the racetrack.”
Following Saturday's home game against Forest Green, Wrexham travel to Crewe the following Saturday before hosting current league leaders Stockport County on April 27.
Parkinson stressed that with three games remaining in the current season, there is no forward planning for next season.
“At the moment my focus is solely on the last few games and I won't let my mind wander to anything else,” Parkinson added.
“We have to put all our energy into preparation.
“If we manage to cross the finish line and gain promotion, we will have plenty of time to plan and build the squad strongly for next year, no matter what division we play in.”
