Patrick Beverley Says Bulls Don’t Tank: “Hell No” Originally Appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The Chicago Bulls will not be fighting to win the lottery.
At least that’s what Patrick Beverley, the latest bull to join the team, said on his podcast.
“No. Hell no. They didn’t bring me down here for gas,” Beverley said on his podcast.
Revitalizing his hometown team’s season and getting them into the playoffs is the mission.
“I thought I could do a playoff push with the Bulls now and cheer them up a bit,” Beverley added. “The East is kind of weak. do you feel me You know, not to respect anybody in the east, but a lot of people went west.”
Beverley chose his hometown team against the Golden State Warriors, the defending NBA champion.
“If you think I’ve worked hard for other teams, just imagine how hard I’ll be for this one,” Beverley remarked.
Currently, the Bulls are in 11th place in the east, just outside of the play-in spots. They are two games behind the Toronto Raptors in 10th place
They have one more game against the Raptors in Toronto on the last day of February.
The Bulls are 6.5 games down from sixth place, which is a guaranteed playoff spot.
The Bulls need a spark and have struggled with their identity with Lonzo Ball’s prolonged absence through injury.
Beverly could deliver that spark and edge.
“You know me, I’m gonna screw Zach LaVine,” Beverley said. “I’ll give him all the energy he needs. Destroying people. Me and DeMar DeRozan, we’re good. I got a banging five in Nikola Vučević.
“I’m excited man. I’m excited.”
