Sports betting is one step closer to legalization in Oklahoma after an Oklahoma House committee introduced a bill Thursday. The House Budget Committee passed by a vote of 27 to 4 House Bill 1027 that would legalize sports betting in Oklahoma. This is state Rep. Luttrell said the bill is broadly drafted to allow for changes that could be made during the legislative process. As is being written, this legislation would allow the Native American tribes to enter into a new sports betting contract. Tribes wishing to participate could partner with larger online sports betting platforms or set up their own platforms and sportsbook. You could also choose to restrict mobile betting to tribal land only. “It’s a bill that I’ve been working on for several years, in conversations with the tribes, with my playing partners, in my districts and many other districts across the state,” Luttrell said. Though the bill passed the committee on Thursday, it doesn’t guarantee it will see House bottom. However, Luttrell said he remains optimistic. Sports betting is one step closer to legalization in Oklahoma after an Oklahoma House committee introduced a bill Thursday.
The House Budget Committee passed by a vote of 27 to 4 House Bill 1027 that would legalize sports betting in Oklahoma. This is state Rep. Ken Luttrell’s author Ken Luttrell’s second attempt to bring this type of betting into the state after the bill fought for support in the last session.
