WASHINGTON, DC – US Congressmen Garret Graves (Louisiana) and Jeff Jackson (North Carolina) introduced bipartisan legislation that will direct the Treasury Department to mint a commemorative coin honoring NASCAR’s 75th anniversary. NASCAR is one of the most watched sports in America.

“This coin recognizes NASCAR’s contributions to our nation’s sporting heritage and supports charitable causes to improve the lives of children in our racing communities. I’m proud to join Congressman Jeff Jackson on this bill and give NASCAR fans a unique opportunity to celebrate this historic milestone.” Graves said.

“NASCAR has powered North Carolina’s culture and economy for 75 years. It’s a great time for racing in the state as NASCAR returns to North Wilkesboro followed by the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. I’m excited to join Rep. Graves in introducing HR 2838 to celebrate 75 years of NASCAR racing.” Jackson said.

The US Mint has stated that since 1997 all commemorative coin programs have been free to the taxpayer.
