Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes says the way his players approached last weekend’s game against Motherwell gives him confidence they will deal with the pressure that comes with a relegation battle.
The Rugby Park side are currently 11th in the Scottish Premiership, four points ahead of last club Dundee United, and comfortably edged Motherwell in a 1-1 draw at Rugby Park.
“We’re going to push more and more with every game,” said McInnes. “And I love how the players handled the game, took the lead and should get another one. The game was good and we tried to focus on the positive aspect of it.
“We’re just disappointed that we didn’t win a game on Saturday where we were the better team. A great hit took two points away from us in the dying embers.
“We played well and that gives me confidence. We were better than Motherwell for most of the game and we played well through the game.”
“There is recognition that we played well on Saturday and have had some good results lately. We want to bring a level of performance that we know we are capable of.”
