“I feel incredibly honored to receive the award. When my athletic career suddenly ended, I began to focus on other aspects of sports, such as coaching and leadership. I was very fortunate to have great mentors who paved the way for me. And it has always been a dream of mine to leave a legacy for others to further advance the development of the sport. So this award helped me realize that dreams do come true!” – Melissa Soligo.
The purpose of In Her Footsteps…Celebrating BC Women in Sport is to identify and honor women who have made significant contributions to sport in BC.
Honorees are celebrated at Sport BC’s annual Athlete of the Year Awards and featured in the “In Her Footsteps…Celebrating BC Women in Sport” exhibit at the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
