HOLLY, me. – The Maxima Racing Oils Must See Racing Lights Series kicks off its season on April 22 at Lorain Raceway Park’s Autism Awareness Opening Night in South Amherst, Ohio.
Last season’s champion Cody Gallogly will begin his title defense. The Baltimore, Ohio veteran picked up three feature wins and four fast times en route to the championship, which was decided at the last event of the year.
The Maxima Racing Oils Must See Racing Lights Series was created as affordable racing for experienced sprint car teams, as a venue to provide younger drivers with seat time in a winged tarmac sprint car, and as a feeder system for top-flight young MSR National 410 Series talent.
“The concept, structure and format of our MSR Lights Series works extremely well for all with strong support from our loyal racing teams,” said Jim Hanks, President and Founder of MSR. “We are definitely growing with a significant number of new teams, tracks and events for the upcoming 2023 season.”
This year’s expanded driver roster will be a mix of youth and veterans. Former Supermodified veteran and 2022 MSR National 410 Champion Charlie Shultz is expected to compete alongside newcomers JD Evans, Matt Double and Bob Komisarski.
Returning front-runners JJ Henes, 2021 series champion and 2022 most-improved driver Joshua Sexton are expected to be strong championship contenders. Other drivers include 20-year-old racer Lauren DePasquale, teenagers Charlie Baur, 2022 Rookie of the Year Andrew Bogusz, and Sawyer Stout. Veterans Todd and Dale McQuillen will join the hunt. In addition, several new cars are currently being built with drivers to be announced.
