Lincoln City 1-2 Northampton Town

Northampton took two wins from their last three League One games by beating Lincoln at Sincil Bank.

Goals from Jon Guthrie and Kieron Bowie either side of half-time made the difference as Jon Brady's side handed Michael Skubala's Imps a third defeat in a row.

The visitors opened the scoring after half an hour when Guthrie jumped over Imps goalkeeper Lukas Jensen from a cross from Marc Leonard and headed into the empty net.

Lincoln started the second half brightly as they looked for an equalizer when Jack Burroughs was denied by Max Thompson in the Cobblers' goal.

At the other end, Northampton continued to pose a threat on the counterattack and in the 58th minute Bowie doubled the visitors' lead with his left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Just two minutes later, Timothy Eyoma's header from close range from Ethan Hamilton's corner promised a thrilling finish.

But any hope Lincoln had of an improbable comeback ended when Paudie O'Connor was shown a red card for a deliberate elbow as Town took all three points.
