PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Kyle Larson controlled all 30 laps to win the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Port Royal Speedway on Wednesday night.
Larson sped off pole to win his fourth series feature of the season aboard No. 57 Paul Silvas to earn $20,000.
Lapped traffic was the only major challenge Larson faced during the feature.
“I feel like I did a good job in traffic, but then I got stuck for about five or six laps and got pretty nervous,” admitted Larson. “I saw Danny [Dietrich] was second on the board and I’ve seen him roll the inside wall here before so I tried to keep an eye on that. My car was phenomenal all night. We had to pass to win the heat and pass to win the dash, so I knew we were going to be good for the feature.”

Behind Larson, the PA Posse defended their home ground in impressive fashion, with six of the top 10 finishers coming from local racers.
Danny Dietrich, Anthony Macri, and Brent Marks combined to place the top-ranked full-time World of Outlaws driver in fifth place for Sheldon Haudenschild.
Just four days before a nasty crash at Eldoras Kings Royal, Dietrich was never sure if he would finish the rebuild of Gary Kauffman Racing #48 in time for Port Royal. However, he and his crew beat enough to get the job done and hit the track on Wednesday. Her reward for all the hard work was a best runner-up result of the season against the World of Outlaws.
“Gosh, I feel pretty good here,” Dietrich said with a grin. “Our truck is in the workshop right now, so I have to thank the Weikerts for bringing this scaffolding here. We had to rip the other car apart and have this one built from the top deck so it’s been a tough couple of days for my boys. It would have been pretty easy to take advantage of the night and enjoy a break, but we’re here and I’m glad we stuck it out.”
Macri finished third after starting ninth.
“Maybe this car is as good without an old crew chief as we are with the current situation,” Macri said. “We left the notebook tonight and threw ideas at each other. We probably should have started the night more aggressively but once I got into a rhythm I knew we were fine. I would have liked to see a warning, but the cookie just didn’t crumble like that.”
