Just Stop Oil protesters disrupted the evening session at the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield. Footage showed a man interrupting the match between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry by jumping onto the table where he emptied a packet of powdered oranges. A female protester was prevented from disrupting the game between Mark Allen and Fan Zhengyi at table two by referee Olivier Marteel’s quick reaction. On Twitter, Just Stop Oil said it would “call for the government to halt all new UK fossil fuel projects immediately and for UK sporting institutions to engage in civilian resistance to the government’s genocidal policies”.
