The official opening ceremony is an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the importance of this event. Yes, the cadets are still at the beginning of their elite career, but this is also their most prestigious and demanding event yet. It’s the training, the trial run to the upper echelons of the world’s senior elite, and it’s also the first opportunity to truly measure yourself against the rest of the world and possibly wear the crown of a world champion.
The opening began with a welcome from Dr. Sanda Corak, President of the Croatian Judo Federation: “On behalf of the Croatian Judo Federation, it gives me great pleasure to wish you a warm welcome to Croatia, to the city of Zagreb and to the world.” Cadet Championships.
After organizing the Zagreb Grand Prix for seniors, we are pleased that we also have the opportunity to host the most important event for young judoka, the 2023 World Championships. We gave birth to some new champions over these 5 days of individual and mixed team competitions, but we’re also excited to feel the success in a different way, exemplifying the core values of judo throughout the competition. All respect others with humility and courtesy. This is only possible if we all work together and it’s part of what makes this event really great.
I would like to thank everyone who helped us to organize this event, from the volunteers to the sponsors and everyone who continuously supports the Croatian Judo Federation. My thanks go to all our IJF colleagues and to the IJF President, Mr. Marius Vizer.”
“I believe many friendships will be formed during the event and I wish all the best for the remaining individual and team competitions. I hope we still have some time to enjoy and experience the city of Zagreb.”
Then IJF President Marius Vizer stepped forward to address the assembly: “Dear Minister Dr. This is a city of sport, culture and youth. Sport inspires people, builds bridges and connects. I hope this tournament for youth will continue to promote our judo values of peace, unity and friendship among our youngest. I wish you all a successful event in Zagreb. I also congratulate Croatian judo and its valuable contribution to the sport.”

Prestige and professionalism are confirmed when the leaders of nations take the time to stop by and offer congratulations, as is the case in Zagreb. Following the Croatian National Anthem and the IJF Anthem, there was a demonstration of inclusive judo by Judo Club for Disabled People Ishi and Judo Club Profectus, forming the conclusion of the Opening Ceremony before the final preparations for the final block of the third were taken on the day of the individual competition in the Arena Zagreb.
