Here’s a recap of Thursday April 13th’s high school varsity action.
Mount de Sales 11, Gerstell Academy 10: Maddie Herman led the win with five goals, closely followed by Mackenzie Conley with four goals and an assist. Goalie Natalie Aiosa led the defense with nine saves. Reagan Ramsey scored three goals for Gerstell while Ava Reed made ten saves.
Patterson Mill 7, Bel Air 6: Samantha Chittum’s only goal came at the best time. Their goal in overtime gave the Huskies the win over the Bobcats. Maddie Tunney and Ava Lopano each scored two goals in the win. Addison Harmel and Cait Welker also scored. Brooke Keesey had two goals for Bel Air.
Carver A&T 12, Towson 0: The Wildcats ended the day early with six runs in the fifth inning. Mallorie Cooper threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Mia McGarvey had two hits with a home run and four RBIs. Robyn Palmer added two hits and two RBIs.
Marriotts Ridge 7, Long Reach 3: The Mustangs (4-3) hit four first-inning runs while Addie Flynn went 3-on-4 offensively with three RBIs. Gianna Peluso also hit a two-run home run while Saige Spittler and Jasmine Smith each had two hits. For long reach (5-2), Janelle Wilson went 3-on-3 with two RBIs.
Howard 13, Atholton 1: The Lions (5-4) clinched their fifth straight win to climb above .500 for the first time this season. For Atholton (1-6), Madeline Skaggs went 2-for-3 while Kam Marable, Kyra Holtje and Adara Baldini also all scored.
Centennial 23, Oakland Mills 4: The Eagles (2-5) scored 16 as sophomore Maddie Reese led 3-on-3 with a double and a triple.
Wilde Lake 11, Mt. Hebron 1: The Wildecats (6-1) used a five-run second inning to build a breakup while Heather McQueeney led 3-on-3 on the plate with three RBIs. Allison McQueeney, Brooke Weinig and Nokomis Styers each had two RBIs. Styers and Weinig had two hits while Allison had one. Weinig also earned the circle win, throwing five innings.

Hereford 10, Dundalk 9: In the top of ninth, the Bulls got RBI hits from Taylor Roberts and Ellie Lansford to take the lead. Dundalk came back at the end of the ninth but failed to extend the game. Lansford finished with three RBIs. Ellie Lysse had two hits and two RBIs. The Owls got four hits from Rachel Cox and two hits and two RBIs from Oaklyn Johnson.
Hereford 14, Franklin 3: The Bulls broke up a one-run game with five runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth. Shaun Verderaime, Liam Diehl and Jack Kinsey all drove in two heats. Andrew Larkin pitched four innings and batted out nine.
Marriott’s Ridge 5, Long Reach 0: Hamin Kim and Ayan Shankar earned singles wins for the Mustangs, 8-4 and 8-0, respectively. The doubles pairings Colin Wang and Tyler Wang, Joy Ghosh and Alex Xiang as well as Nathan Choi and Sai Chodavarapu each won their matches.
Marriott’s Ridge 4, Long Reach 1: Stella Lee won her match in No. 1 singles 8-4. Mustangs doubles pairings Charita Sandoze and Leah Liu, Haeli Shah and Sophia Feldman, and Mahika Juneja and Sandrine Koh all won their games. Zoe Wright defeated Erika Kang 8-5 for Long Reach’s only No. 2 singles win.
Patterson Mill 6, Aberdeen 5: Erin Lozoskie and Matthew James won a doubles match in a third-set tiebreak to give the Huskies the victory point. Individual wins went to Dylan Paoletti and Jessica Kim. Other double wins came from teams Sophia Trinh and Angela Kim, Gretchen Cousler and Vicki Huang, and Taylor Goff and Aidan Litrell. Aberdeen’s Jason D’Silva won the first boys’ singles 6-0, 6-0.
Fallston 7, Harford Tech 4: Kaylee Mills, Sara King and Jesse Kilian gave the Cougars singles wins. They won the boys’ and girls’ doubles matches with victories from Ryan Blair and Colby Resh, Kael Sturgis and Mason Schorr, Natalie Taccone and Gabby Zebron, and Camryn Barrett and Meghan Perez.
