Grimsby Town 2-0 Crewe Alexandra

Grimsby moved up to 11th in Sky Bet League Two with a 2-0 win over midfielder Crewe at Blundell Park.

Gavan Holohan opened the scoring with a low finish after 12 minutes before Danilo Orsi secured three points in the closing stages.

Grimsby created the first chance as Harry Clifton and Orsi played a double and Clifton saw his attempt saved by Crewe goalkeeper Tom Booth.

Some quick thinking from Alex Hunt got the Mariners going as his set piece played to Holohan and he drilled home.

Crewe came close to equalizing immediately when Kelvin Mellor shot just wide, while Grimsby keeper Max Crocombe had to be on the alert to ward off Daniel Agyei as his header crept in.

Evan Khouri took aim twice at Grimsby after the restart, sending one try past before Booth got another to safety.

Agyei drove into the side netting as Crewe pushed, looking for a way back into the game, but Orsi had the last word with a header.
