Gomez-Alonso and Doubles reach Quarterfinals at ITA Regional


STILLWATER, Okla. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team carried a doubles team and freshman Carolina Gomez-Alonso to the Quarterfinals of the ITA Central Regional on day three of the tournament.

In doubles, Razorback pair Indianna Spink and Kelly Keller met Drake’s Ines Stephani and Rebecca Ehn in the round of 16. Spink and Keller prevailed with a sovereign 8:1 victory and advanced to the quarterfinals. The duo meets Kajura/Kezuka of Iowa State tomorrow at 9:30am CT with a trip to the semifinals at stake.

Rookie Carolina Gomez-Alonso continues her impressive fall season by winning her two matches of the day to advance in the tournament. In their first game, Gomez-Alonso came out with a 6-1, 6-0 win, followed by a 6-2, 6-3 win in the round of 16. She meets her compatriot Raquel Gonzalez from the state of Oklahoma tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
