Affected vehicles include 2020-22 model year Escapes and 2021-22 model year Bronco Sports, which are equipped with a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine. The engine oil separator housing can crack and develop an oil leak, which can increase the risk of fire in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components.

Dealers will inspect the oil separator for damage or leaks and will replace the separator and seals free of charge if necessary. Ford will notify owners on April 18, but those who have additional questions can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 22S21), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888 -327-4236 or visit the website to verify your vehicle identification number and learn more.
