Aston Martin has taken the latest – and biggest yet – plan of what it hopes will be a consistent development plan to Japan this year. New sidepods, with a shape strongly reminiscent of the Red Bull, and a new floor edge are intended to improve both the team's performance and the difference between qualifying speed and race pace this year – in contrast to last year when they were stronger in the races than over a round.

Fernando Alonso said: “More downforce also affects the tire wear that we have.” So far we have been very aggressive in developing the car. A new part in Jeddah on the front suspension, an optimization of the front wing in Australia and now another package.

“We drove a different car every race, which is a good sign of what we want to achieve this year – to be very aggressive off the track.” Last year we learned a lesson: we started very well and then this Car not changed It was already painful enough in the second half of the season. Hopefully this year we’ll be a little stronger in the second half than we were in the first.”
