England stormed to a seven-wicket win over Australia at Kensington Oval and won the ICC World Twenty20 final on that day in 2010.
With the win in Barbados, England broke their 35-year trophy duck at International Cricket Council tournaments.
England’s effortless success in the final made earlier failures look ridiculous as Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen’s second wicket count of 111 helped them pass Australia’s 147 six times with three full overs to go.
Man of the match Kieswetter hit seven fours and one six in his 49-ball, 63 game, and Pietersen (47 of 31) was almost as dominant in a chase that began well before captain Paul Collingwood scored the winning runs no competition.
Australia, unbeaten in the tournament so far, stumbled disastrously to eight for three in the third round after being used on a fast field.
David Hussey (59) ensured a successful upswing. But England had secured a crucial advantage and were in no mood to prevail against their old foe this time.

Collingwood said: “This is a very special moment. The boys deserved everything they have today.
“We won a World Cup and you can never take that away from us. Because of the way we played throughout the tournament, we absolutely deserved the win.
“We had a lot of confidence and the guys thought about themselves very well and made the right decisions. We ended up showing up and playing at a big event like this.”
