The Delta Sport Centre, formerly known as the Delta Sport Complex, has officially reopened to the public.
According to a Facebook post from the ActiveSG Delta Sports Center, the mixed-use sports complex finally reopened on April 30 after being closed for renovations since 2019.
Red Bean Architect, the architecture firm responsible for the renovation, shared a photo of the rejuvenated complex in a post on April 29.

Here’s an idea of what to expect, based on another Facebook post by local architectural photographer Darren Soh, who worked with Red Bean Architects to document the “makeover.”
Sheltered pool and futsal pitches
Rather than completely demolishing old structures, many of the complex’s features have been largely repurposed for contemporary use, Soh said.
For example, four new futsal pitches have been added to the sports center, now partially protected by the cantilevered roof of the old complex’s original spectator stand.

The full-size ice hockey rink that served Singapore’s ice hockey team since 1991 before relocating to Sengkang in 2010 was also retained.

Other rejuvenated features include a “fully sheltered pool” with an access ramp for elderly and disabled swimmers – compared to the former semi-sheltered paddling pool – and a revamped indoor gymnasium.

The new Delta Sports Center also now features an outdoor running track around and throughout the complex, as well as a newly constructed ActiveSG gym located above the indoor pool.

A 24-hour access route from the pedestrian overpass on Tiong Bahru Road ensures that pedestrians can easily get from the complex to Alexandra Road without “having to come down to the ground until you reach either end of the complex.”

Folks craving a workout or a late-night snack can also look forward to a McDonald’s location opening soon.

Background information on the Delta Sports Center
The Delta Sports Center is one of Singapore’s oldest mixed-use sports complexes, built in 1979 by the Housing and Development Board (HDB).
At that time, the facility consisted of three swimming pools, a multi-purpose hall and a football field with a covered spectator stand.
In 2019, it was announced that the Delta Sports Complex would close for renovations and subsequently reopen in 2021.
However, this was later delayed for reasons related to Covid-19.
