SURREY, BC – The City of Surrey has begun construction of a new sports complex in Cloverdale.
Located at 6336 177B St., the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex will feature two National Hockey League-sized ice rinks, seating for 400 spectators, multi-purpose and common rooms, officers’ quarters, locker rooms and other amenities.
The project will also offer various programs including ice hockey, figure skating, public classes, ice skating and dry floor summer use for sports like lacrosse and ball hockey.
The facility will be energy efficient and aim for the highest technical and accessibility standards.
In July, it was announced that Graham Construction and Engineering LP had been awarded a $13.4 million contract to build a complex.
“I am delighted that construction of the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex has begun,” Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum said in a statement. “This new arena will not only provide additional ice to meet the needs of Cloverdale residents, but will serve the needs of both the city and sporting destinations. As with all Surrey Invests Capital projects, this facility has been designed to high standards including key sustainability and accessibility features.”
