Christopher Nkunku has won 10 international matches for France
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says he is “concerned” by Christopher Nkunku’s latest setback.
The striker has made just one Premier League start since joining the club.
A knee injury sustained in pre-season persisted Nkunku will be out for three monthsand he missed Chelsea's last two games with a hip injury.
“We are disappointed and a bit worried because we want him back as soon as possible,” Pochettino said.
“We’re still assessing him, we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
“It’s complicated with Christopher. It’s now been between eight and ten days since he’s been able to train.”
“He was so close to feeling well again that he started the game against Crystal Palace.”
The France international scored on his Premier League debut in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves on December 24 and made his full debut three days later against Crystal Palace.
But a hip injury occurred during training Nkunku ruled out in the 4-0 FA Cup win over Preston last weekend and the League Cup semi-final defeat to Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
Although Nkunku was ruled out of Fulham's visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Pochettino is hoping France centre-back Benoit Badiashile and the long-absent Ben Chilwell can return to the matchday squad.
“The good news is that there are players like that [Trevoh] Chalobah, Chilwell, Badiashile and [Carney] “Chukwuemeka is so close to getting involved again and helping the team perform at its best,” Pochettino said.
