Candice Warner Joins The Back Page, New Role, Regular Panelist, How To Watch, Live Stream, News, Updates

Candice Warner believes her unique perspective as a former professional athlete will help her connect with today’s sports stars in her new role as a regular panelist on The Back Page.

Warner, who debuted as a guest panelist last year and “absolutely loved the experience,” joins the show, which she “watched religiously” while growing up in a sports-loving family.

She will appear alongside presenter Tony Squires every Tuesday night alongside a rotating cast of journalists and sports stars past and present.

Warner earned her spurs as a former pro Ironwoman and already knows what it’s like to be a full-time athlete.

Talking about all things sporting on the show each week is an advantage she’s happy to take, even if she says she’s “not an expert.”

“I could say I’m an expert in my chosen sport, but I’m not a journalist,” Warner told foxsports.com.au.

“So what I feel, where I feel most comfortable and what I like to talk about, is that I understand the athletes. I understand the pressure, I understand what they are going through, what their family is going through, the victims.

“I can see things from their point of view and it’s really nice to share that with the athletes.

“Sometimes journalists can hit really hard and want that headline and not see it from the athlete or player’s point of view.

“I can see it. I can see how they think very differently than other people. So it’s nice to have that in common with the people we interview a lot every episode.”

Warner’s new appearance on The Back Page is just the latest in a sports media career she’s “always hoped for.”

“Last year I started working at Triple M with the Dead Set Legends and now working with The Back Page gives me an opportunity to have an opinion and speak out about a sport that I love and is my first love is,” Warner said.

“Growing up I used to go to the South Sydney Rabbitohs games with my dad and brothers every weekend, so my love for NRL was always there.

“It’s nice to show my love for the sport and to have an opinion on what’s happening right now, but also to talk about my journey in the sport.”
