Victor Adeboyejo joined Burton after being fired from Barnsley

Victor Adeboyejo’s 12th goal of the season gave Burton a valuable point in their 1-1 draw with local rivals Derby after James Collins put the Rams ahead in the first half.

Derby started with the better of the two sides just 10 miles from the A38 and former Albion striker Collins fired an early header over the bar before finally finding his reach midway through the first half.

Louie Sibley’s cross was initially cleared but the ball was returned interested by Conor Hourihane into the box where Collins hit him with a header that went into the net.

Hourihane and David McGoldrick shot wide as Derby was looking for a second goal, but it was Burton who came close to equalizing. Goaltender Joe Wildsmith twice parried off Albion skipper John Brayford, first with a close-range header and then with a 25-yard stomp.

Loan Ipswich defender Corrie Ndaba had good chances to equalize for Albion but his close-range header landed wide before a well-crafted free-kick found him free in the box but he was only able to go wide.

Adeboyejo had largely remained calm, but with 11 minutes remaining his finish from a Terry Taylor corner equalized and part of the points.
