British Rowing is pleased to confirm the selection and appointment of Marsh Sport as its new insurance broker.

Marsh Sport have dedicated teams across the UK providing insurance and risk advice exclusively for the world of sport. From the grassroots level to the largest professional brands, their specialized services currently support over 100 national governing bodies of similar sports.

Marieke Hagemans, British Rowing Director of Membership and Rowing Community, said: “The aim of reviewing our insurance policies was to ensure we were providing the best combination of value, coverage and service to everyone involved in our sport. Improving insurance coverage for all types of rowing is a priority for British Rowing and I am delighted to have Marsh Sport on board and look forward to working with them. I would like to thank Howden, our outgoing insurance broker, for his many years of service to the sport.”

Natalie Wale, Head of National Governing Bodies at Marsh Sport, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with British Rowing as their appointed insurance broker. Our primary focus will be to add value to members by providing a robust insurance program combined with accessible support and guidance to meet the varied needs of the rowing community. We look forward to implementing new initiatives aimed at improving the level of protection and expanding the options available.”

Later this year we will be engaging with community rowing clubs across the country to develop a new group insurance scheme for affiliated clubs to opt into as part of their annual enrollment process. This will help us add value to our clubs and actively promote safe practices, one of our key strategic goals.

With this extension of insurance, we have cleared up some questions about certain types of rowing and competitions. All information will be available soon on a new dedicated insurance microsite, but in the meantime please direct all insurance inquiries to [email protected] or contact us via [email protected].

Common insurance scenarios

We have created an Insurance Scenario document to provide more clarity on the coverage individuals receive through British Rowing or their club. Insurance related requests can be nuanced and as such we will update the scenario document in response. The common insurance scenario document can be consulted Here.
